Yudhoyono: Pro-people program not only direct assistance cash
Padang (ANTARA News) - President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono said such pro-people programs implemented by the government were not merely direct assistance cash (BLT).
"Many people talk about this but they fail to provide complete
information or data pertaining to the government programs, because many
do not know perhaps about what the government has done so far,"
Yudhoyono said during a campaign before 100,000 sympathizers and cadres
of the Democrats Party in Imam Bonjol stadium, here on Sunday.
According to the president, by pinpointing BLT program as the only pro-people program was totally wrong.
There are many pro-people programs implemented by the government such
as a 20 percent educational budget allocation and free of charge
education.
The 20 percent education budget allocation program also included an effort to improve the teachers` social welfare. he added.
Yudhoyono admitted even poverty and unemployment rate continued to
decline, there were still many poor community. Hopefully in the future,
the number could be further lowered.
For the poor, he added, the government will continue to help them with
the supply of cheap rice through rice program for the poor in addition
to future family assistance program designed to help them from their
difficulty.
The government, he said, also channeled more social aid to senior
people, the handicaps and veterans as well as community stricken by
natural disaster throughout Indonesia.
